Retro Circles

I made this cake for a 19 year-old young lady's "black and white" birthday party. I was so excited that she chose the retro circles because I've been dying to make a cake like this for awhile. The cake was a white cake, filled with three layers of raspberry buttercream. Thanks to my friend, DeAnna, for taking the pic when my camera was feeling finicky.

Animal fun!

I made this for a 13-year old girl who loves zebra prints. The cake is a white cake, filled with strawberry buttercream and covered with homemade fondant. The stripes, balls and letter N are also made from fondant. This one was a lot of fun to make!

The Beast

I made this for a friend's son's (and his friend's) birthday. For those of you not from Utah, the symbol is for the University of Utah Utes. The Utes (football) went undefeated this season and won the Sugar Bowl. I nicknamed this cake "The Beast" b/c it was SO big and incredibly heavy.

This one was made to take to school for his birthday. It was also his teacher's birthday, which the birthday boy's mum kindly wanted to acknowledge. The request was for a standard flower cake. However, in good conscience, I couldn't put only flowers on a teenaged boy's birthday cake.

Birthdays Galore!

Well, I'm happy to say that this was the weekend of birthday cakes. I enjoyed making all of these cakes, though may be feeling a little sleep-deprived! The first two cakes were made for a brother and sister (very good friends of my kids) who were having a joint birthday party with a magician.

The little girl loves anything pink!

This cake was made for a friend's daughter. It is the same design as a previous cake in my blog, but using different colors.

Twilight Birthday

This cake was made for a 13-year-old girl's birthday. For those of you who aren't familiar with the books (and now movie), this is based on the covers from the Twilight series. Full credit is given to the fabulous decorator at www.SweetAustin.com for the inspiration for this cake. The checkerboard and chess pieces are done in fondant.
